Frequently Asked Questions
About Tufting
01
This is my first time tufting. What should I expect?
Our workshops are specifically designed for beginners/ people who have never done it before, therefore no prior experience is required. All you need is the enthusiasm to try something new! We will take you through the basics of tufting and will provide you with everything that is required to create your own rug! Once you finish tufting, you will cut it off, glue on the backing fabric and your rug will be ready! However, accidents happen, in which case, we will do our best to fix your rug which can be collected in a week’s time.
02
I’m not good at drawing. Can I still make a rug?
Absolutely! You will be submitting the design of your choice two days prior to the workshop. Your design will be drawn on the canvas and ready at your workspace for the beginning of the workshop.
03
How long does it take to make a rug?
This depends on the amount of detail you want to include in your rug and how fast you work. We strongly recommend choosing a simple design with fewer details.

01
What is the minimum age to attend a tufting workshop?
For safety reasons, we welcome anyone above the age of 14 as long as you are able to hold the tufting gun (weighs about 1.8kgs) and take some easy instructions.
We do not allow attendees under 14 to wield a tufting gun on their own - if you have a younger child they could help you design your rug and choose the colours, and maybe have a little go with you assisting, but they will not be able to properly tuft. This is due to the fact that the session involves operating machinery with some sharp edges.
02
Can I bring someone with me to accompany me to the workshop?
Yes, you can bring someone who can sit in whilst you do the workshop subject to availability of room for additional attendees. Kindly confirm with us by reaching out to us at info@clumsy.co.in. However, please note that the total number of people who will work per rug is limited to 1 persons only.
03
What happens if I am late?
We request you to be on time to your workshop as we do a group introduction. If you are going to be late to your workshop, please let us know via email or a phone call as soon as you can, so we don't wait for you and delay the start of the workshop. If you are going to be more than 30 minutes late, it is up to our discretion whether you will still be allowed to participate, as after this time you are unlikely to be able to complete your rug in the allotted time slot. No-shows will be considered as slots used.
04
Can I change my workshop date/time?
Please note that we have a no refund policy. Rescheduling may be made once to a date within a month (only to weekdays) from the original appointment date, at least 24 hours before scheduled appointment time. Reschedule slots are subject to availability. However, kindly note that after this point, we are unable to reschedule your booking.
For group bookings of more than 4 people, the booking will be non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled, so please be sure of your dates before you book!
05
What if I can’t complete the rug with the stipulated time?
Don’t worry! You are more than welcome to stay longer to complete your rug. Extensions are chargeable at INR1000/hour.
Rug Maintenance
Tufted rugs are created without knots. Instead, loops of yarn are pulled through the rug’s backing material using a tufting gun. Tufted rugs shed more than other rugs and may require more-frequent vacuuming.
